Description
An aluminium finger protector is used to shield an injured or sensitive finger from knocks and to limit how much it moves. The aluminium body bends by hand, so it can be shaped to the natural angle of the finger, and the foam lining keeps the metal off the skin. The splint sits over the finger and is held with tape, protecting the fingertip during everyday movement. It is used for fingertip injuries and nail-bed trauma on medical advice. Several lengths and widths are produced: one that is too short leaves the tip exposed, while one that is too long restricts the neighbouring joint unnecessarily. Compared with a fixation splint, this model puts the emphasis on covering and protecting rather than fully immobilising. Ask an orthopaedic technician or your doctor about the right size and how long to wear it.
