Description
Thermal shorts are a closed-cell neoprene garment that wraps the abdomen, waist, hips and upper thighs. Neoprene is a thermal insulator: it holds body heat over the area it covers and noticeably increases sweating there. Worn during exercise, that effect is stronger still. Because localised warmth helps muscles relax, the garment is also used as an adjunct in physiotherapy programmes. Sizes are chosen by waist circumference: Small 65–75 cm, Medium 75–85 cm, Large 85–95 cm, X-Large 95–105 cm and XX-Large 105–120 cm. The correct size should hug the area closely enough to stay in place without restricting breathing or movement. A few points deserve care: because the garment increases sweating, keep up your fluid intake while wearing it, avoid long sessions in hot weather, and stop using it if you notice redness, itching or a rash. It is not suitable for anyone with a neoprene sensitivity. People with circulatory problems, cardiovascular disease or a skin condition should consult their doctor before use. Turn the garment inside out and dry it thoroughly after each use.
