Description
The AeroChamber Plus Flow-Vu is a holding chamber used to increase the amount of medication from a metered dose inhaler that actually reaches the lungs. Sprayed straight into the mouth, much of the dose hits the mouth and throat and stays there; the chamber slows the particles and holds them in suspension so they can be drawn in over several normal breaths. That makes it particularly valuable for young children who cannot coordinate a puff with a breath, for older users, and during an episode of breathlessness. The distinguishing feature is the Flow-Vu indicator: it moves as the user breathes in and out, showing both that the mask is sealed against the face and that the patient is genuinely inhaling — for a parent treating a child it is the only visual confirmation that the dose is being taken. Sizes follow age: small mask for 0–18 months, medium mask for 1–5 years, a mouthpiece for 5 years and over, plus adult mask and mouthpiece. Child and youth sizes use a low inhalation resistance valve that does not obstruct exhalation. There is no latex anywhere on the device. Clean it once a week by hand or on the top rack of a dishwasher without heat drying, and replace it every 12 months of continuous use.
