Description
Comfeel Plus is a hydrocolloid dressing designed to create a moist wound healing environment. Hydrocolloid dressings absorb wound exudate and turn to gel; that gel keeps the wound surface from drying out and reduces damage to new tissue at dressing changes. The dressing forms a barrier to bacteria and water while still allowing the skin to exchange oxygen. Being flexible and elastic, it follows body contours and moving areas, so it is less prone to lifting at the edges. Its clearest practical benefit is wear time: because it can stay on the wound for up to 5–6 days, fewer dressing changes are needed, which improves patient comfort and lowers the secondary infection risk that comes with each change. It can be applied touch-free and handles easily with gloves on. It is used on pressure ulcers, leg ulcers, superficial burns, graft donor and recipient sites and abrasions. Hydrocolloid dressings may not be appropriate for infected wounds or deep, tunnelling wounds; check with the doctor or nurse managing the wound before use.
