Description
Unlike a surgical mask, an FFP2 respirator is designed to capture not just droplets but the fine particles that stay suspended in air. This mask has five layers: a water-repellent outer layer that sheds liquid splash, and nanofibre plus meltblown inner layers that do the actual filtering. Rated at a minimum of 97% filtration for particles below 0.3 micron and 99.9% bacterial filtration, it is manufactured to both TS EN 149+A1:2009 FFP2 and the US NIOSH 42 CFR 84 standard, and carries CE certification from an EU notified body. As important as the rating is the fit: air leaking around the edges lowers protection whatever the filter class, so the nose clip must be shaped firmly to the nose. The mask is latex free, making it suitable for users sensitive to latex. It can be worn in dusty work, painting, spraying and healthcare settings, and should be replaced once it becomes damp or breathing resistance increases.
