Description
Hypafix is a wide area fixation tape for situations where a narrow strip is not enough. With ordinary tape you can only secure a dressing at its edges; with Hypafix you cover the whole dressing, which stops the edges lifting and the dressing sliding. Because it comes as a roll, each wound gets a piece cut to its own size — there is no need to stock separate sizes. The semi-permeable film lets the skin continue to exchange moisture, reducing the risk of maceration where an area stays covered for a long time. The polyacrylate adhesive is hypoallergenic and is well tolerated even by patients with sensitive skin. The stretchable fabric moves with the skin over mobile areas such as the elbow, knee and shoulder, where a rigid tape would either lift off or restrict movement. Besides dressings it is also used to secure catheters, probes, tubes and monitoring lines. Clean and dry the skin before applying, and lay the tape down without stretching it; tape applied under tension can cause a skin tear or blister. Remove it slowly, pulling parallel to the skin.
