Description
A mesh nebuliser breaks medication into droplets by pushing it through a vibrating perforated membrane rather than with a compressor, which makes it far quieter and far smaller than a compressor unit. The 1–5 µm particles the Mesilife BR-MN199 produces are in the range that can reach the lower airways. Its most useful practical difference is that it works while you lie down: a compressor kit needs its medication cup upright, whereas a mesh unit will run at an angle — a real advantage with a sleeping infant or a bed-bound user. Two output positions are provided; the lower setting is chosen to reduce coughing in children, the higher setting to shorten a session. The built-in battery charges over a USB cable and runs for around 90 minutes fully charged, so it can be used away from mains power and while travelling. The mesh itself is a delicate part: rinse it after every use as instructed and never touch it with anything hard, or the output will fall away. Ask your doctor which medications may be given through this device, as not every inhalation drug is suitable for mesh nebulisers.
