Description
A nasal silicone splint is placed inside the nose after septal and similar nasal surgery. What sets it apart from traditional gauze packing is the material: the silicone surface adheres less to the mucosa, which is its clearest advantage in reducing discomfort at removal. When it is placed, how long it stays and how it is removed are entirely decisions for the operating surgeon; the product is not fitted or removed by the patient. While it is in place, do not blow your nose or push at the splint, and follow the nasal care instructions your surgeon gives you. Contact your doctor if bleeding increases, pain becomes severe, you develop a fever, or the splint shifts. The product is single use and should not be stored once its sterile packaging is opened.
