Description
Suprasorb C is a collagen wound dressing used on wounds that heal slowly and do not respond to conventional dressings. It is a white, rectangular, fine-pored sponge whose capillary action draws wound fluid into the dressing. It supplies high-grade collagen to the wound bed and supports the proliferation and migration of epidermal cells, which is why it is chosen for long-standing pressure ulcers, venous and mixed vascular ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers and surgical wounds left to heal by secondary intention. Before use the wound must be cleansed thoroughly and the surrounding skin left clean and dry; the pouch is opened under aseptic conditions and the dressing is cut to the wound size with sterile scissors and normally applied dry. It is a single-use product, with sterility assured by aseptic manufacture to EN ISO 13408. This 4 × 6 cm size suits small and medium wounds; 6 × 8 cm and 8 × 12 cm sizes are available for larger areas.
