Description
The 3M Littmann Classic II Pediatric is a two-sided stethoscope built for examining smaller patients. Its chestpiece is scaled down from the adult models: the 3.3 cm floating diaphragm sits between a child's ribs and makes full contact, so sounds that a full-size diaphragm would lose at the edges come through clearly. The reverse side carries a 2.54 cm traditional bell for low-frequency sounds such as murmurs. The chestpiece is machined stainless steel and weighs about 40 grams, and the headset is made from wide-diameter aerospace alloy. The 71 cm tubing lets you listen without leaning far over the patient. The stethoscope is covered by a 3-year warranty against defects in material and workmanship. It suits paediatric clinics, family practice and nurses following up newborns; for adult patients a model with a larger diaphragm is the better choice.
