Description
The Epi-Derm periareolar sheet is silicone gel sheeting shaped for the circular incision scars that run around the nipple. In breast reduction and lift procedures the incision often follows the edge of the areola, and a flat sheet will not sit against that circular line — hence the ring-shaped form. The moist, occlusive environment silicone creates over the scar helps the tissue soften and flatten over time. The sheets are normally used as a pair, one per side. They can be worn up to 12 hours at a time and sit under a bra, which makes daytime wear practical. Washed with a non-foaming, fragrance-free cleanser and dried, they last around 2–3 weeks. The product is non-sterile and is applied only once the incision has fully closed.
