Description
A bunion (hallux valgus) is a common foot problem in which the big toe drifts outward and a bony prominence forms at its base. Because that prominence rubs against the inside of the shoe, redness, callus and pain develop. The Ortolife bunion protector is a silicone sleeve that sits over the prominence and puts a soft buffer between the shoe and the joint; its purpose is to reduce pressure and friction. The spool-shaped section that fits between the big toe and the second toe stops the protector sliding out of position and keeps the two toes from overlapping. Silicone is soft, thin and flexible, so the protector adds little bulk inside the shoe and is comfortable for daily wear. It can be washed and reused. Bunion protectors are supportive products aimed at easing symptoms; they do not permanently correct the deviation of the toe.
