Description
A range-of-motion knee brace has adjustable hinges at the sides that control how far the knee may bend and straighten. In the early period after surgery the hinges are locked and the brace works as an immobiliser; as recovery progresses they are opened in steps to allow controlled flexion and extension. That is the main reason it is used after cruciate and collateral ligament surgery, patella surgery, and femur or tibia operations. It is also chosen to reintroduce movement in defined degrees once a cast has been removed. The universal model fits either leg, is held by straps around the thigh and calf, and its side supports hold the knee firmly. The permitted range must be set by your doctor — do not change the angle settings yourself.
