Description
The Riester ri-rap is a Sprague-Rappaport type stethoscope built so that one instrument covers a wide range of patients. The heavy chromium-plated double chestpiece carries a Ø 45 mm and a Ø 32 mm membrane: the larger face for adult chest and heart auscultation, the smaller one for children and confined areas. Both membrane faces can be swapped by screw connector for the Ø 33.5 mm, 27.3 mm and 20.3 mm bells supplied in the box, converting the instrument to a bell configuration for low-frequency sounds. The tubing is reinforced and dual-channel: sound travels to the left and right ear along separate paths, which strengthens transmission and reduces the intrusion of ambient noise — a real difference in a busy emergency department or an ambulance. Tube length comes in 40 cm (extra short) and 80 cm (extra long): the short version is handier for close work, the long one lets you listen without leaning over the patient. The box contains three bells each with a transparent membrane and two pairs of replacement ear-tips.
