Description
A silicone breast prosthesis restores body symmetry and the way clothing sits after breast surgery. The outer skin is polyurethane and the silicone body gives a weight close to that of natural tissue — that balance matters because it keeps shoulder and back load from falling on one side. Being hypoallergenic and antibacterial, it can be worn all day in prosthesis bras that sit directly against the skin. Teardrop, symmetrical and triangular shapes are available; the right shape depends on the contour of the chest wall after surgery, so the choice is best made with a specialist. It can be worn on either the left or the right side, and in swimwear designed for prosthesis use.
