Description
This cervical collar cradles the chin from below and limits the head from dropping forward. The chin support gives a higher level of immobilisation than a collar without one, so it is chosen where neck movement needs to be restricted more firmly. The two-piece design makes the collar easy to wrap around the neck, and the height adjusts — setting it correctly stops the chin being pushed too high and making chewing difficult. It is used on medical advice for stiff neck, cervical disc and degenerative complaints, and after strains and trauma. Numbered sizes are selected by neck measurement. Because prolonged wear can weaken the neck muscles, your doctor should decide how long the collar is used.
