Description
This cervical collar supports the neck and limits its movement while leaving the chin free. Without a chin piece, speaking and eating are more comfortable than in a chin-supported model, though the level of immobilisation is correspondingly lower. The two-piece design wraps around the neck and the collar height adjusts to the user's anatomy — an important setting so the chin is not pushed too far upward. It is used on medical advice for stiff neck, cervical disc and degenerative complaints, and after strains and trauma. The collar comes in numbered sizes chosen by neck measurement. Where firmer immobilisation is needed, the chin-supported version applies; for severe trauma and fractures, a Philadelphia collar should be considered.
