Description
This hinged knee brace uses steel bars on the medial and lateral sides of the knee to add lateral stability. The hinges are free-motion, so they do not restrict bending and straightening but resist sideways stress — the reason this design is chosen for collateral ligament injuries and for protecting the knee before and after surgery. It is made in one universal size and hook-and-loop straps set the tension, which is useful while swelling changes. The neoprene body grips so the brace does not slide down and keeps the joint warm. It is normally used on medical advice; if the range of motion needs to be limited by degrees, a ROM (angle-adjustable) brace should be considered instead. Wearing it while sleeping is not recommended.
